We’ll discuss: What does a sleep schedule look like? Should I put my baby on a schedule? What can I do if my spouse comes home in the evening and riles up the baby? Can I sleep with my baby?

Then you won’t want to miss this informative and helpful workshop with Rachel Cedar of You Plus 2 Parenting, which will guide you through strategies to ease your Big Kid into becoming a Big Sib. We will also discuss our “Siblings Sharing a Room” sleep tips which were developed in partnership with the professional sleep consultants at Dream Team Baby.

Facilitated by Rachel Cedar, who earned her Masters in Social Work from Columbia University and has experience working with young women and moms as a clinical therapist. Rachel has worked in the mental health field for over eight years in the areas of research, clinical trials, alcohol & drug abuse counseling, eating disorders, bereavement and depression & anxiety. Additionally, Rachel has extensive experience in advocacy for underserved and underprivileged populations including immigrants, and survivors of domestic violence. As the founder of You Plus 2 Parenting, Rachel works closely with moms of two or more as a time management and life strategist to help families re-establish a routine and get life back on track after the addition of a new baby. When she’s not busy supporting other moms, Rachel enjoys spending time with her two boys, Eli & Sam.

Isa Herrera, MSPT, CSCS, women's health physiotherapist, has written two quintessential self-help book for women suffering from pelvic pain, pelvic floor muscle dysfunction, sexual pain and scar pain. The techniques in her new book, Ending Pain In Pregnancy and Ending Female Pain, Second Edition are based on Herrera's real life experience in treating women at her NYC based healing center, Renew Physical Therapy. Here she treats women who suffer from conditions involving pre and post-natal pain, vulvodynia, vaginismus, interstitial cystitis, vestibulitis, endometriosis. The first half of this workshop will help the prenatal mother and partner prepare for birth with yoga sequences, breath awareness and restorative postures. The second half of the workshop will emphasize partner massage, combining Swedish, Deep tissue, Shiatsu and Thai massage techniques. Partner work will help to reduce tension and discomfort, improve sleep, increase circulation, and deepen the connection with each other and baby during this extraordinary time, as well as be an enormous benefit during labor.

Class will include: Gestation and anatomy, nutrition, preparing your body and how to adapt to the changes, birth plans, labor support, your partner as a coach, stages of labor, interventions, inductions, C-sections, breathing, relaxation, pain management techniques, breastfeeding, newborn procedures, and postpartum health. There will also be time for questions!

Terry is a certified childbirth educator. She uses her experience as a labor support doula, yoga instructor and mother to offer a well-rounded, accessible curriculum. As a doula, she has assisted couples through a very wide range of birth choices and experiences. It is her goal to teach the full spectrum of options a couple has when preparing for their birth, and then to support them unconditionally. The most important way to approach your birth is with confidence and relaxation. You achieve this by knowing what possible things to expect and by feeling prepared to respond positively to whatever your journey turns out to be.

Singing and bonding with your baby is fun when music and massage complement each other to stimulate your baby’s brain and relax his muscles and organs. Moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas and caregivers will feel more confident in their parenting skills. Babies will respond with coos and smiles as you learn to soothe them. Everyone will benefit from this unique learning experience! Some of the more specific benefits for your baby include: stimulated circulation, improved body awareness, improved sleep patterns, reduced discomfort from teething, congestion, gas, colic and emotional stress.

Robbin Schwartz (www.weemassage.com) has over seven years of experience in early childhood music, and is both licensed as a massage therapist and certified in infant massage. Course includes an instruction manual to help you continue massage with your baby at home. Classes are one hour to allow both for instruction and discussion of relevant topics, such as helping your baby sleep through the night. Sessions are four weeks long, with one make-up for any missed classes, to be completed within the next session. This class is best for babies 0-6 months.

Vanessa Anton, the founder of Common Sense CPR will teach you how to recognize and respond to a choking incident, as well as what to do if the baby(newborn-12 months) is unresponsive and needs CPR. You will also learn important tips about how best to avoid these situations along with extensive baby safety tips and car safety.

Vanessa has worked with families as a doula, as a childbirth educator and as a
parenting educator for over 15 years. After completing her medical training in the
emergency care field she embarked on making CPR more accessible to families and started Common Sense CPR ten years ago. Vanessa is a certified Childbirth Educator, Certified Doula, Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner, E.M.T., American Heart Association B.L.S. Instructor, American Red Cross Instructor and Child Passenger Safety Technician.

Spouses, babysitters, grandparents are all encouraged to attend!

Join us for an exciting music class for family and baby! The focus of this unique class is to nurture the bond between parent and child through music and sound exploration. Activities include singing, movement to music, musical play, puppetry, books and stories, all which aid the baby's visual and auditory tracking, gross motor skills and language development.

Taught by Corrine Byrne
Corrine Byrne is an active musician based in New York City who has been heard within opera, oratorio, recital, and premiering contemporary works. She holds a master’s degree from Manhattan School of Music and is currently a Doctoral candidate at Stony Brook University. She co-founded the contemporary classical Tempus Continuum Ensemble, and tours with them as well as with Renaissance group Musica Humana and award winning jazz quintet West Side 5.

Corrine is dedicated to music education and musical exploration in young children. In 2011, Corrine toured the role of Queen of the Night in the Amato Opera in Brief outreach program which was brought into several NYC schools to teach children about opera. When she's not on the operatic or concert stage, she's accompanying herself on guitar and piano while teaching musical theater, chorus, songwriting and general music to children, specializing in self-expressive original musicals for pre-schoolers. She also brings bedside music - everything from pop to jazz standards - to patients in hospitals in all over the country with Musicians On Call. Corrine was a finalist for the 2012 Career Bridges Grant Awards.

Facilitated weekly support and discussion for moms and babies (newborn-6 months) in your community. Led by Jessica Shapley, certified social worker and mother of two. Finding the power to embrace the journey where moms can connect and friendship can grow.

Topics include, but are not limited to, mom and baby wellness, breast feeding, bottle feeding, introduction to solids, sleep issues, staying at home versus working outside the home, isolation, childcare, family life, self image and more. Receive and give support, information and resources. Be a part of a growing sangha (community) of new families near you.

Cancellation Policy
The Prenatal Yoga Center cannot be responsible for providing make-ups or issuing any credit for classes missed as a result of scheduling conflicts, illness, emergencies, or other circumstances beyond our control. We strongly recommend you complete your courses prior to your 37th week. We will not refund any payment due to labor after your 37th week which is considered full term, however we will offer partial credit for any missed workshops or events due to premature labor.

If you need to cancel your commitment to a workshop, you must cancel at least two weeks prior to the event. You will receive a refund minus 10% processing fee. If you cancel within two weeks of the workshop, if the space can be filled, you will receive a refund minus 10% processing fee. If the space cannot be filled there will not be a refund.

Prenatal Yoga Center reserves the right to amend this policy at its sole discretion.
