Dear Joanna,
Maureen has been with my family, on the upper west side, since my daughter was 3 months old. It's hard to convey just how wonderful Maureen has been for us all. She is absolutely fantastic with my daughter Lillian - loving, caring, fun, and energetic. She has been an enormous support for me - when going back to work specifically and also also generally everyday, as we discuss the ins and outs of Lillian's needs, changes, etc. She is very experienced - both in terms as a nanny (and still sees the eight children of the past three families with whom she worked - which was a big deal for me when we were looking for a nanny) and also has a daughter and teenage granddaughter (though don't think of her as a grandmother - she is much more energetic than me and very sporty!).
She is the consummate professional, but also a partner in caring for Lillian. She is excellent at arranging playdates (far better than I could ever be) - and Lillian has made some firm friends as a result. I really respect the fact that she understands Lillian and seeks to safely push Lillian - intellectually, emotionally, physically, and interpersonally - to develop, but at her own pace. I think that is an art.
