Hi Brenda
Sorry to hear that you are sick!
To answer your question about the Ginger Tea, I have heard many women say they drank ginger tea during pregnancy to help with nausea with no without suffering from any negative side effects. As for the specific brand "Traditional Medicinals Organic Ginger Tea", if there is a label advising you to ask your doctor, I probably would give your doctor a call. You can also just buy ginger root and boil that and make your own tea. I am also going to pass this on to Karen Gurwitz, from Mothers and Menus. She will be joining the "Ask the Experts" as our nutritionist and see if she has any other advice about ginger tea and it's place in pregnancy.
Here are a few other suggestions for dealing with a cold during pregnancy, since most decongestants are not an option:
- Steam- boil a pot of water and throw a towel over your head and the pot. This will help open your sinuses and help you breath better. (And gives you a facial at the say time!
)
- Use a neti pot or saline spray. The neti pot helps remove bacteria from the nasal passages and the sinuses.
- Fluids- Lots of fluids. Even though during pregnancy you already feel like you have to pee all the time, still increase your fluid intake.
Hope this helps! Feel better soon!!
Deb
