Hi babyjaden88,
Sorry to hear that you are experiencing discomfort in your ribcage.
I do have some idea to what is causing this. As you progress in your pregnancy and your baby grows, the uterus is pushed up out of the pelvic and many of your organs are displaced. To accommodate for this, the ribcage expands. The muscles between the ribs- the intercostal muscles- are stretched severely. This could explain the pain you are feeling. I typically advise people to try to use some arnica on the irritated spot or a warm compress to relax the muscles. (Arnica is a homeopathic topical remedy that helps sore and bruised muscles. If this is a new product to you- you should check with your doctor before using it.)
There is also a condition called Intercostal Neuralgia. It is nerve pain that occurs around the ribs. It is common in pregnancy since there is an increase weight gain and a softening of the ligament due to the hormone relaxin. This can lead to nerve irritation.
Also, since I am only basing this on what I have learned and observed over the years, I would encourage you to speak with your doctor.
I hope you feel better soon!
Deb
