Deb - vulvar varicosities

i have been teaching yoga for pregnancy for 10 years, and I have never encountered this before: one of my students has vulvar varicose veins. We released the psoas, talked about moving the body weight into the legs and feet, and lifted the pelvis. but I can't find any references as to good yoga postures. does anyone have any suggestions? thanks!

It sounds like you are recommending all the right things to do. You should also recommend avoiding squats unless they are supported by sitting on a block or bolster and anything that crosses the legs and compresses the pelvic floor region. Poses like downward facing dog and knees/ chest should be helpful since they are releasing pressure on the pelvic floor.

Several of my students that had varicose veins both in their legs and vulvar varicosities have found support hose helpful in alleviating the discomfort.

Hope that helps!

Take care,

Deb
