Deb - diamniotic monochorionic pregnancy

I'm interested in hearing from anyone who has experience with diamniotic monochorionic pregnancy. I'm currently 15+ weeks along and have been advised by my OB to have a c-section/inducement at 34 weeks in order to avoid third trimester morbidity. I'm interested in hearing if this is common practice.
Thanks!

Hi. I am unfamiliar with diamniotic monochorionic pregnancy. So I am emailing my OB/GYN right now to ask about this. When I hear back from him, I will postn his answer.

Thank you
Deb

Hi Deb, Thank you for looking into this- The basic translation of the situation is an "identical" twin pregnancy where each fetus has its own amniotic sack, but both share the same chorionic sack and placenta. Apparently the risk of twin to twin transfusion, as well as other risks, is greater in this situation then in other twin pregnancies.
Thanks again for taking the time to look into this!

Here is the response from my doctor, Dr. Harry Lee.

"Not necessarily. But, mono/di twins do carry a higher risk of complications like twin-twin transfusion where one grows significantly more than the other. If she wants an honest opinion from a rational high risk OB have her look up Sharon Patrick on the east side. She's very middle of the road reasonable and an excellent high risk OB"

Hope this helps!

Take care
Deb
