Hi Deb,
Just wanted to let you know how my birth experience went.
Katherine Brennan Lambert Roberts was born at 4:56 AM on May 4th.

She weighed in at 6.5 pounds, at 20 3/4 inches long. She has dark red hair
and so far) blue eyes. She looks a bit like me and a bit like Chris and
she's a sweetheart, just still figuring out the notion of sleeping during the nighttime hours.
My doctor wanted to induce my labor so I went in on Wednesday the 2nd
and had Cervadil inserted - by the morning, nothing had started, so they
began pitocin. I got myself up and about, walking the halls, using my balance
ball, and my water broke around 12:30 - by late afternoon I had barely
dilated at all, but by 7:00 the pain had become unbearable, and I opted
for an epidural. At that point, they found I had dilated to 8 cm, so it
seemed we would deliver soon. After a rest, we started working on pushing aroundmidnight or 1:00 (time blurred together) - it turns out the pitocin had
accidentally been shut off, so after awhile, it was hooked up again -
they had me mostly pushing on my back, but I realized that I needed gravity
to make it work - around 4:00 the doctor said that they baby was not
coming down and we were looking at a cesarean. I had a fantastic L&D nurse whowould not let me give up, and soon I was squatting, hanging on a bar,
and Katherine flew out of me! Instead of one push for her head, and more
for her shoulders, with one strong push, out she came.
I'm so glad with the way things went - Katherine is a blessing.
Jenny Lambert
