American Red Cross
Sudden cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of death in the U.S., striking about 250,000 Americans each year. That translates into nearly one death every two minutes. The good news is that prompt, effective administration of CPR can save a life.
At this in-depth course, you’ll learn to recognize breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, infants and children and to perform CPR with supervised, hands-on practice. At the end of the class, you should be able to:
• Recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in infants, children and adults
• Perform CPR on a person suffering from sudden cardiac arrest
• Minimize the effects of shock
• Care for choking situations in victims of all ages
A useful course textbook helps you retain your skills after the class
is over and will serve as an important reference in an emergency.
