Tip #5 - Surrender; “Don’t push the river, let it flow”
One thing I have learned from being a labor support doula is, you can prepare for a situation, but you can not control the situation. This is very much true about labor, birth and motherhood.
Moms-to- be: During your contractions you are indeed working hard, but at the same time you need to surrender to the sensation. Ride them like a wave and not try to control the situation. Your labor and your birth will unfold on it’s own.
New Moms: Schedules are indeed important for a new baby, but surrendering to a change and modification from what you had planned is also necessary. You may have one idea in mind, while your baby has another!
