Any Location - Doctor and Midwife Referrals
I am continuously asked for referral of doctors that I like and respect. So here is a short list of doctors and midwives that I have worked with.
Dr. Harry Lee (my doctor)- great doctor- but does not do the birth center. He works with Dr. Mortiz , Dr Jew and Dr Dillan (sp?). I like that I do not feel like I am being rushed out of the room. He gives me time to ask questions even when they are just doula related. I especially liked that he is supportive of my choice to use a midwife for a home birth. He was not judgmental at all about my decision.
Dr. Paka (does the birth center) she works with Yael Silverberg (midwife)
Dr. Lily Wong- I really like her when I worked with her! And she does the birth center. My friend Liz is currently using her as her doctor.
Sylvie Blaustein (midwife) I worked with her on my very first birth. She was very patient and supportive.
Dr. Rhee and Dr. Bradely. This practice uses the Birth Center. I also respect that this practice is very liberal with time allotted after water breaks and supportive with VBACs.
Dr. Gae Rodke. (She DOES NOT take insurance) I have only done one birth with her, but I thought she was supportive and respectful of the clients wishes and issues. My friend, Heidi, also used her and had a wonderful experience with her.
Dr. Chen (I don't know her first name, but she works with Dr. Morgan at Mt. Sinia) She is my good luck charm for quick, natural births! We have done several births together this past year. I was very impressed that she did a vaginal examine while my client was standing up, leaning against the bed. A lot of drs. might have insisted the client lay flat in bed. She was also respectful of the clients desire to push in whatever position was most effective for progress.
Dr. Shih- She is at NYU Hospital. I have done several births with this practice, but only one birth with her. I was most impressed that she allowed the laboring mom LOTS of time to push her baby out. My client had the longest second stage (pushing stage) I ever attended. Most doctors and hospitals would have called a cesarean birth, but mom and baby where doing fine. So Dr. Shee was patient in allowing my client to push her baby out vaginally.
Hope these referrals help.
