I just found out I'm pregnant, at age 39 and am looking to work with a (preferably female) OB/GYN who is affiliated with Columbia or Cornell. I would prefer someone with an office on the West Side. Someone who takes their time to answer questions and who is open to natural birth. I'm not sure if I'll be considered high risk, but that would probably help if they have that certification.

Dr. Kelly Greening at the West Side office of Cornell, 12 W 72nd St (646) 962-7800. She was my OB before I got pregnant, and while she no longer delivers babies herself, I've really liked going to her.

I have been going to Dr. Jin who specializes in high risk pregnancies and she's great. She also has solid reviews on Urban Baby.com. She's very direct and isn't going to hold your hand - but she knows what she's doing and if something were to go wrong, I'd feel comfortable that we're in her hands. The other OBs in her group are also well respected.

I recommend Nerissa Guballa at Cornell- she is exceptionally smart, will hold your hand, and helped me through a difficult first half of pregnancy. She once mentioned that 60% of her patients are 39 and over. She is the best.

And my husband and I were totally shocked with how much care and time she took with us at each visit- that was really impressive.
