Forums, Threads and Posts

Discussions are organized into forums to help keep everyone's conversation in order.

When someone creates a new discussion in a forum they are creating a thread. A thread encompasses first post made and all replies to that specific post. For example this thread is titled "Forums, Threads, and Posts." If someone replies to this thread it will become part of that thread.

A post is each individual conversation peice of a thread. If you reply to this thread you are adding a post to it.

You'll also hear posts used in place of threads. For example, "I posted a thread in this forum" means the same thing as " I created a thread in this forum."
