Very early pregnancy suggestions?

I just received initial blood test results confirming that I am pregnant. My hcg level is quite low, but it is extremely early. After a prior low-hcg pregnancy terminated in an early miscarriage, I am eager to do whatever I can to encourage and support this one.

I am 33 years old. I have already reduced my work schedule to part-time, so I only work 3 days a week (usually fewer than 36 hrs) until the end of March.

I am concerned about engaging in prenatal classes that are intended for more established pregnancies. I am also hesitant to continue with my pre-IVF yoga practice (focused on back care for my chronic pain, which has magically become almost negligable since my embryo transfer a week ago), not knowing the specific implications for my precious condition.

I would be extremely grateful for any and all suggestions.

Since you are rather nervous about maintaining this pregnancy due to an early miscarriage from your last pregnancy, I would recommend doing some acupuncture. I know many women that use this during their first trimester to help the fetus implant well into the uterine wall.

As for your yoga practice, I would consult your doctor, especially if you are considered high risk. We do have many women that start quite early and others that continue their previous practice until they feel they need a more pregnancy specific asana class.

congratulations on your pregnancy. I look forward to seeing you in class when you are ready.

take care
