Available this September, our wonderful nanny must find a new family now that our son is starting school.

Jackie is warm, intelligent, reliable and full of energy. With us since our son was just 3 months old, she has helped prepare him to go off to school by taking him to music and sports classes, museums, play dates and by reading, drawing and practicing numbers and letters with him.

Hi,
I am looking for a Nanny for October as that is when I go back to work - but would be open to starting sooner if necessary. Your nanny sounds great and I'd love to hear more about her. I live on the UWS and my son will be 3 months old when I go back to work. Some questions I have are:
-how old is Jackie?
-what other "chores" does she do? (cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc.?)
-where does she live and where is she from originally?

I am happy to talk to her directly as well if that's easier.

First--congratulations on your new arrival!

Jackie is in her mid-thirties and lives in Brooklyn. Before being our nanny, she took care of a little boy in the UWS and knows the area well and has a small network of nanny friends there still.

She was born in Saint Lucia but has lived in New York City for close to 10 years, I believe. She has a teenage son, Jamal, and other family here in town.

We did not have her do any regular chores besides cook for and clean up after our son, but I did occasionally send her to the store for things. A former nanny myself, I would just recommend being clear about what additional tasks you need--I think she would be fine with keeping busy. Mostly, we wanted her to take him to playdates and baby classes. She took a lot of initiative in finding things to do, which is great.

October sounds wonderful, actually--we were considering keeping her parttime until our son fully transitions into school--but of course I leave that up to the two of you if you hit it off.
