Midtown - cheerful nanny
Hi all,
My son is starting school this week, so my wonderful babysitter, Sandra, is
looking for more hours. Starting in September/October, Sandra will be available
four days a week, Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. She wants to be
paid on the books.
Sandra has been caring for my son, Noah, for over a year, and she is a true gem.
Along with her many years of experience as a nanny, she's the mother of three
grown children. This is a woman who loves kids and who knows what she's doing.
Although she didn't work with me until Noah was a toddler, she has extensive
experience with babies: She is currently also working for a family with an
infant, and she has worked as a night nurse.
Sandra is warm, kind and cheerful. She nurtures my son's growing independence
and encourages him to try new things. Whenever I have a new food for my picky
toddler to eat, I save it for Wednesdays, when Sandra will be feeding him lunch.
Without fail, she persuades him to eat whatever I've prepared (no matter how
vehemently he had already refused it when I tried to feed him the new dish).
Sandra is a high-energy do-er: She would rather be on the go - playing soccer at
the park, reading books in the library, having a picnic at Pier 6 - than hanging
around your apartment all day. She has friends in the neighborhood and often
makes plans to keep Noah occupied on bad-weather days. (Her desire to keep busy
works to the parents' advantage, too: In the early days, when Noah would nap,
Sandra would tidy up our apartment and do some of his laundry. She did such a
good job that we eventually hired her as our housekeeper, too!)
Perhaps most importantly, I have complete trust that she will treat my child as
if he's her own. She is careful, knowledgeable, and has excellent judgment. I
don't worry for a minute when I leave Noah with her; I know she will keep him
safe.
This is what a previous employer, a mother of a toddler and an infant, had to
say about Sandra: "She's loving, kind and firm, and she intuitively understands
what kids need, and how to make even hand-washing a fun adventure. Her constant
good mood is infectious, and sets a great tone for the day. All of our kids'
teachers tell us what a great energy Sandra brings to the room. If you have more
than one kid at home, don't worry. I think Sandra could handle ten at a time."
If you'd like to contact Sandra directly, she is available at 917-753-9769. Or
feel free to email me at jlpessin@... if you have any further questions.
