We are moving to California in the middle of June because of a job relocation.
The sad news is we will have to say goodbye to our nanny - Amparo Rojas - who has provided love and care to our 3-year old daughter Maya for the last year. As much as we would love to take her to California with us, her husband and two grown children are here and so we are now looking to place her with another family.
She is truly the most loving, patient, kind, energetic, sweet and creative woman. She's a native Spanish speaker and in the last year everyone has noticed how good Maya's Spanish has become. Moreover, she works with our constantly changing schedules, arrives each day like clockwork, and has made herself an indispensable part of our home.
She arrives each day with a game plan for Maya and the two of them have developed a great routine that involves getting her dressed and ready to go out, eating at a local bagel shop and then either dropping off/picking up Maya from preschool or taking her to the Museum of Natural History, the Children's Museum (CMOM) or the Central Park Zoo.
We especially love how actively she cares for Maya. She doesn't sit at the playground on her phone - she chases Maya around the sandbox. She also comes up with special indoor projects to that when my husband and I come home we have often have some sort of artistic creation waiting for us.
Amparo is truly wonderful -- we just can't say enough nice things about her since she has been so special to our family. Amparo would be perfect for a family that really wants their child to speak Spanish because she speaks very clearly and works with Maya on her vocabulary and grammar. Her English is passable but Spanish is really her main form of communication so she's great for a family that really wants their child(ren) to be bilingual.
We give Amparo our highest recommendation. I'll gladly provide additional information and help set up interviews for her. Please email me if interested at
