Program Description

We all want the best possible world for our children. We hope that they’ll have the audacity to lead amazing and fulfilling lives --- but where will they learn to aspire to greatness if we, their parents, haven’t done so with our own lives? Our children learn about health and happiness by observing who we are, not what we say. What will your children learn from you?

In this culture of consumerism, it feels hard to prioritize our health and happiness. But, we know that doing so is the best and the ONLY way to truly prepare for parenthood.

Well Parenting will support you through your transition to parenthood by focusing on:

Primary Nourishment
Wellness is about so much more than food, and we argue that it’s actually the non-food aspects of life -- physical activity, career, relationships, and spirituality -- that truly nourish us. We’ll examine these nutrients in our own lives and discuss ways that we can find balance within them and among them to create the life that we all desire and deserve.

Secondary Nourishment
Secondary nourishment comes from the food that we consume. We truly are what we eat, and since the cells in our body periodically regenerate, we have the ability to ACTUALLY change who we are by making changes to what we eat. We’ll focus on the importance of eating in a way that celebrates abundance, not restriction. We’ll also discuss how diet can affect fertility, how to “eat for two," and how food can sustain us through conception, pregnancy, and parenthood.

Mindfulness
We all have the ability to live in the present moment, devoting proper attention to ourselves and the world around us, but instead we spend much of our time on autopilot. When we're not present with the ones we love, we miss out on opportunities to connect on a deeper level. As we prepare for parenthood, mindfulness provides us with a solid base from which beautiful and compassionate decisions can be made about all aspects of parenting.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do we sign up or find out more about the program?
The next step is to schedule a free health history consultation with us by visiting www.lizandstevedooley.com.

What if we are unable to participate in a session?
No problem! Just let us know in advance and we will be happy to record the session for you.

Is this group exclusively for couples?
Of course not! We have nothing but respect and admiration for single parents and wholeheartedly welcome individual participation in the group. If you are intending to parent with a partner, however, we strongly advise the participation of both partners.

Is individual counseling still available?
Definitely! In addition to this group, we're still counseling individuals and couples one-on-one. Contact us here for more information.

Do we have to be expecting?
Definitely not! This group was designed to meet the needs of those of you who are thinking of opening your lives to children. Perhaps you are just thinking about starting a family via pregnancy or adoption or perhaps you are already expecting. All are welcome!

How will the phone format work?
The group will be held in a conference call format, with Liz & Steve as the facilitators. You will be provided with a toll-free call-in number. This won't be one of those conference calls where you put yourself on mute and go multi-task (like we do at work!). It will be highly engaging and interactive, with participants answering and asking questions along the way.
